With online nominations opening in January, schools and colleges from across Portsmouth are busy nominating their staff and teams. In this update, we spotlight nominations, introduce our sponsors and award categories. 

World Book Day is always a popular way to celebrate literacy in schools across the city. Both staff and pupils often come dressed up as their favourite book characters and participate in book-themed activities, which in turn reinforces the importance of reading and creativity.

We spoke to Debbie Anderson, head of school improvement and early years at Portsmouth City Council to find out why World Book Day is an important date in the school calendar and the investment that will drive literacy standards in the city.

Teach Portsmouth is running a series of teaching assistant information events to help highlight the fantastic opportunities support roles can offer within the city.
